Our sustainability roadmap

While our journey towards sustainability is steadfast, we acknowledge that our current materials may not be 100% sustainable.

The fashion industry, as a whole, faces challenges in adopting eco-friendly materials, primarily due to the high costs involved.
As a small business Altera is committed to accessibility and the reduction of waste and we purchase fabrics in limited quantities. The current price per meter of 100% sustainable fabrics would impact the affordability of our garments for most people.

Our mission is to make tailoring accessible to everyone, and we're working diligently to embed more sustainable practices and use sustainable fabrics when possible.
Small batch and made to order
We are a made to order fashion brand, we create a dress only when an order is completed and this means that we have no overproduction. We want to break the cultures of fast fashion, landfill and returns and believe this can be achieved by our high quality, personalisable dresses
Made in the UK
We work with skilled dress makers in the UK that have secure and healthy working conditions with fair pay. Our beautiful fabrics are sourced from Spain we trace all of our supply chain to the final stage of production to ensure our standards adhere to the best standards.

Our fabric commitment by 2025
Our Current Fabric Challenge: We acknowledge that our materials are not yet fully sustainable. This is primarily due to the fashion industry's slow adoption of eco-friendly materials, which drives up costs. As a small business that operates on a made-to-order model to reduce waste, we're acutely aware that this can impact affordability.

Our Commitment: By 2025, Altera is dedicated to transitioning to sustainable materials across our entire range. We are actively engaging in research and partnerships with suppliers to make this commitment a reality.
Reducing carbon footprint
We pledge to reduce our carbon footprint by 40% by 2030. This includes optimising our production processes, sourcing materials locally where possible, and exploring carbon offset initiatives.
Further waste reduction
Our aim is to reduce waste across all stages of our production process. By 2025, we will implement strategies to minimise fabric waste during cutting and explore innovative solutions for recycling or repurposing fabric scraps.
Transparency and accountability
By 2025, Altera is committed to expanding our product offerings to include a significant range of cruelty-free and vegan fashion options. We will ensure that no animals are harmed or exploited in the creation of our clothing, aligning with our ethical and sustainable values.
